Beware of Illegal HCG Products Sold Over-the-Counter or Online

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recently issued warning letters to seven companies that market and sell over-the-counter weight loss products containing the hormone HCG asking that they stop selling and marketing these unapproved drugs.

As an Arizona wellness company that uses HCG in some of our weight loss programs, we believe that the FDA and FTC are right in doing this and we hope this brings the dangers of buying HCG products online or over-the-counter to light.

HCG is a hormone that is FDA – approved as a prescription injection drug.  Just like any prescription, you need a doctor approving the need and overseeing the treatment and utilization of that prescription drug. There have been studies that suggest that HCG can absorb excessive fat tissue and when done and supervised correctly, the HCG 500-calorie diet can and has produced dramatic and healthy weight loss results for our patients. Simply put, HCG spares the muscle tissue but gets rid of fat. That combined with the low-calorie diet make the HCG 500-calorie diet extremely effective. Second, in cases where HCG products are bought online or in-stores, there is no doctor present to oversee treatment and utilization of the drug.
